Pelleted Diets
The benefits of feeding your birds pellets are many! Here at Rosedale, our birds are fed a staple diet of top quality Bird and Pet Nutrition pellets. They receive fresh fruit and veg as well as sprouted and dry seed, however, these are offered purely to provide variety and relieve boredom.
I will list some benefits of pellets:
Nutrition: Pellets meet all nutritional needs where as seed alone does not. There are various types of pellets available to suit different species, as well as special requirements. Small Bird Diet ~ specifically formulated for sensitive and companion birds. Maintenance Pellet ~ this diet is useful for maintenance purposes during non breeding periods for both large and medium sized birds. Breeder Pellet ~ a proven Breeder diet with additional inclusions improving it's overall nutritional values. These products are just a few of the range of diets available through Bird and Pet Nutrition. We use their products excusively and are so confident in the high quality and reasonable price, we are now the NSW distributor. For specifications on each product you can visit our "Store" page which also has current pricing and purchase options.
Convenience: Feeding pellets is too easy! Fill the bowl, what's not to like about that? No messy hulls to remove.
Reduced Waste: Most birds develop a favourite seed out of a mix (quite often sunflower). They search desperately through the seed bowl, flicking good seed to the ground in the process. Not only does this waste costly seed, but the ability to eat only a particular seed that tickles the taste buds, may be leaving them short on nutrition.
Reduced Mess: Seed displaced whilst searching through the bowl and even more so, seed hulls all over the ground. Not only unsightly, but inviting to rodents. You don't get this mess with pellets. Birds don't eat the pellets whole but prefer to grind them down into crumbles first. Don't discard the crumbled pellets (unless of course it's soiled) as the birds will pretty much eat the whole lot.
